Audley End
Miniature Railway
The
Audley End Miniature Railway is a delightful 1.5
mile ride on Lord Braybrooke's private 10 1/4"
gauge railway running steam and diesel
locomotives through Estate woodland.
The railway crosses the River Cam twice. There
is free car parking and free admission to a
picnic area and woodland walk.

Gardens of Easton Lodge
The
Gardens of Easton Lodge are situated north of
Great Dunmow and were originally designed by
Harold Peto in 1902 under commission by the
Countess of Warwick. They were maintained up
until 1950 by then were neglected and became
overgrown. In the 1970s they under-went a
project of restoration by the Creasey family
which is still ongoing with some areas now
reverted back to the original design. The
Gardens are open in February and March for
lovely displays of snowdrops.

Mole Hall Wildlife Park
Mole
Hall Wildlife Park was first opened to the
public in 1963 and now covers over 20 acres of
grounds and gardens, which surround the original
moated manor house (private), which dates from
1287. The collection of animals and birds
contains many exotic species including otters,
flamingos, sarus cranes, primates (including
chimpanzees), owls, birds, guanacos, wallabies,
a beautiful tropical Butterfly Pavilion and
much more.

Stansted Mountfitchet Castle
The
only reconstructed Norman wooden Motte and
Bailey Castle in the world, built on its
original site. Adjacent to the Castle is the
House on the Hill Toy Museum, which has a
fascinating collection of toys.
